The Old Edison at Trash Bar
Although this show took place at a "legitimate music venue" it was also a birthday party. Ultimately it felt more like a house party than a concert. Everyone crowded together near the stage as though the room were much smaller. The line between audience and performer was crossed repeatedly. Everyone got really wasted together... then by the end everyone seemed really tired and things just sort of fell apart.

Bleached at The Knitting Factory
Is it just me or do these folks look like they should be in four different rock bands? There's the anime-looking guy, the lady dressed for her first job interview, the hippie chick, and a drummer they could have grabbed off the streets of Greenpoint an hour before the show. Doesn't matter, because when their powers combine, awesomeness happens. A blonde-Guy-Fawkes-stagediving levels of awesomeness. No pics of that, sadly, but check out the shot of the kid doing the sign of the goat.

Bosco Delrey at Brooklyn Bowl
Rock music backed by electronic, almost dance beats. There's a lot of that going around these days. I usually skip it. The lack of pretentiousness from these guys is much appreciated, though. There were no long stories about the deeper meaning of the songs, no homages to bands I've never heard of, just some bouncy fun music. Mr. Delrey punned a bit about "bowlers" and "ballers" but mostly just got down to the business of rocking. See I like that.

Mutant Genes at Tommy's Tavern
These guys had to change their name the day of the show. It turns out another, lamer band also used their old name. Sometimes it sucks to be a new band. You come up with a good name and someone steal it, you get to play hole-in-the-wall venues, and the only press you get is from some crappy wannabe photographer who doesn't even use a photo of the band as the lead-off shot. Pathetic! But at least the music is awesome.

CJ Ramone at The Continental
Wait, The Continental? Do they still have music there? Well, no, but I guess some friends of theirs stopped by for a little show. I missed most of it due to an excellent football game (go Big Blue!) but I'm always happy to hear CJ Ramone blast his way through (19 songs in 45 minutes) the Ramones classics. Especially at one of the first music venues I ever checked out in New York, way back when...
