Pop.1280 at Death By Audio
As good as their booking and sound may be, Death By Audio is not one of my favorite places to take photos. The reason of course is the lighting, which is not only weak but pointed at everything but the band. Bands end up playing in the shadows. That's not the right look for a lot of them.
Lyrically at least, Pop.1280 are about the most nihilistic band in Brooklyn. They're well suited to the shadows. Hell, one of them was wearing dark glasses for a while there. Dark, yeah, it's their thing.

Pop.1280 at Cake Shop
I smelled smoke during this set! It's those extra lights they put on the floor. The effect of this extra lighting was nice. It made the place look post-apocalyptic (and the smoke didn't hurt either!) Too bad it was too dark to shoot without the flash, so I couldn't really capture the atmosphere.
Pop.1280 at Dead Herring
When I photographed these guys last time they seemed a bit listless. It was a big room (The Knitting Factory) with a small crowd. This time it was a small room with a slightly bigger crowd. Now I see what was missing from their first show: contact with the audience. Specifically lead singer Chris Bug, who repeatedly launched himself into the audience with mic and mic stand in tow!
