The Black Hollies at Maxwell's
While being entertained by a fine performance by The Black Hollies I also found myself amused by the lighting. Each member of the band was a different color, each color matching a flavor of Kool-Aid. There was Grape Hollie, Orange Hollie and Cherry Hollie. Lime Hollie had some cherry color (maybe someone forgot to wash the pitcher?) and sure enough if you put 'em all together you get Black.

The Black Hollies at The Knitting Factory
I was told that every performer at the Reisling Festival received a bottle of wine. Some of them seem to have finished their bottles before others. While I would not rank this among the top Black Hollies performances I have seen, I will say that with the spirit of the occasion in them they performed in the spirit of the occasion.

The Black Hollies at Brooklyn Bowl
I once criticized Black Hollies lead singer/bassist Justin Angelo Morey for being terribly boring on stage, possibly while he was within earshot. Not sure whether he heard me, but in the interim he has learned to play bass using a maraca and a glass of beer, the former like a bar (as in this photo) and also like a pick. Not bad.
