TV Ghost at The Knitting Factory
All of my photosets probably include more shots of the lead singer than of the other band members combined. They tend to be the biggest showoffs. Likewise, among all lead singers, Tim Gick of TV Ghost is the biggest showoff. He dominates this photoset like he dominates the stage. However, kudos to the fellow on keyboards for picking up his instrument and trying to play it with his teeth. Just please face the camera next time!
Guitar Wolf at The Knitting Factory
I could probably let the pictures speak for themselves. Guitar Wolf is a rock band. They're Japanese. They're nuts. Their lead singer (who is personally called "Guitar Wolf") is incredibly energetic and very, very sweaty. Their songs are baffling and are about romance and aliens. The first half-dozen or so songs were absolutely incredible. After that the energy level dropped and things got a little more average, but they were still a lot of fun.
Cheap Time at The Knitting Factory
There was a mosh pit during Cheap Time's last song. Never would have expected that. They were a bit too mellow, rockin' but also jam-band like. But you know, sometimes the energy level of the performance keeps building and it grows and grows until people start to go nuts. Maybe that was it. I dunno, I got there late and only heard the last few songs.
The Vacant Lots at The Knitting Factory
It is almost accurate to call these photos of the lightshow rather than photos of the band. That was one intense lightshow! As for the music I would say that the songs were catchy or even hypnotic and all sounded kind of similar. Feel free to judge for yourself, the entire concert is online.
The Vandelles at The Knitting Factory
The last time I saw this band they were terribly sloppy, so I can honestly say that I was pleased by how much better they sounded this time even if they weren't exactly at their peak. I guess they took a little break after hitting the SXSW touring circuit last month. Love the new songs, though.
