Mark Sultan at Mercury Lounge
Mark Sultan has some voice! He'd better if we wants to sing old-school, doo-wop inspired rock-n-roll without sounding ironic. What really amazes me though is that he manages to play guitar, drums (kick and snare) and tambourine while singing. What Rangers are to regular soldiers, this guy is to musicians.

Dandelion Wine at Rockwood Music Hall
Stage #1 at Rockwood Music Hall is not so small, but the piano fills up about half of the available space. As such two members of the band were not able to get up on stage! My apologies to them, and I hope they enjoy all of the lovely photos, mostly of Danny.

Pop.1280 at Cake Shop
I smelled smoke during this set! It's those extra lights they put on the floor. The effect of this extra lighting was nice. It made the place look post-apocalyptic (and the smoke didn't hurt either!) Too bad it was too dark to shoot without the flash, so I couldn't really capture the atmosphere.
A Frames at Cake Shop
Once in a while you find a band which has one member whose energy on stage blows the rest of the band away. Try to guess which one. As for their music, some A Frames songs sound like 70s British punk. Others are more conceptual and remind me of John Cale in the Sabotage era if anything.
World War IX at Don Pedro
I'm not sure anyone was even paying attention to the music. People are allowed to get crazy at Don Pedro and they knew it, so they did. P.S. Notice how old the average guy in this band is? Punk bands get better with age. Fact.
